Film production in the old Soviet bloc was big, and of course since both Poland and Czechoslovakia were part of it, there was a lot of celluloid exchange. However, it was sometimes hard to understand what went on in Czech films, literally. Hence the Polish quip (not always dealing with film. In fact, the whole notion of a Czech film can be used in all aspects of life. If you don’t understand anything because it is obscure and vague, it’s like a Czech film – jak czeski film).
Bronisław: You understand that?
Bartłomiej: Nah. Bit like a Czech film, really.
