Question by Tim: Film Producer Career help?
I have decided to study Business Administration, however I have been recently considering the job of a film producer. I have read many articles about the job, and many other questions-answers in yahoo about that. I would really like to work in a film, not to become famous or anything, but because I was always enjoying going to the movies or watch films at home.
So I would like to ask mainly people who work in that field or know people who work or can provide any info to me about the career of a film producer. First of all should I attend film school, or business administration will help me, secondly who should I start this career: do I need an agent or should I try for an intern in a production company? And if I need to find an internship, how should I do that? Email production companies or get an agent?
What I all want to know is how to start all this?
Thank you.

you need to get a foot on the ladder within the film business by starting off as a runner or other junior member. the best way to get into it would be to take a film studies course at university. this could be done as your first degree, or if you are doing business admin as a degree already then you can do postgraduate film studies courses. alternatively, you could email production companies or film or TV companies near to you e.g. Yorkshire TV, BBC if you’re in the UK.
no you def don’t need an agent. i’m sure business admin will be helpful if you don’t go into film production, but i don’t think it will be particularly useful for that specific career.
