I am getting a Macbook Pro, and I want to do video editing on it, but I do not know which program is better for independent video editing.

Final Cut is the best for video editing, and unfortunately its only available for Macs (last time I checked). So if you’re getting a Mac, definitely get Final Cut… it’s the industry standard.
