Question by Riven: I’m thinking about going back to school for to study film, Do you think this is a good idea?
I’ve always been passionate about film and always wanted to become a film director. Currently I’m, taking video production classes and enjoy them immensely. I’m thinking about going to study film full time but am worried if this is a good idea at my age. I am 30 years old and already have a decent job which I would have to quit in order to be serious about film making. I won’t be able to go for a M.F.A. because I do not meet the current criteria, I would have to go for a 2nd bachelors . Do you think this is a good idea and why?

I never think it’s a bad idea to follow your dream, you don’t want to spend your life regretting something you never did. If it doesn’t work out then at least you can say you tried, which is more than most people can say. I am also glad it’s something you want to go to school for, I read a lot of questions on here from people who want to be directors but seem to think it’s something you can just do with no training at like age 15 they think they can hit the bigtime directing with no education, I am glad you understand it takes real work and education to direct. There are almost no directors out there with no formal education. I wish you luck in school and in your directing career.
