Question by Abby: What should I major in if I want to work as an editor in film and possibly move to producer?
I would like to work behind the scenes in either television or film, editing the videos and whatnot. I may eventually move up to some kind of producing. So what should I major in in college?

One, unfortunately, has little to do with the other. Editing is a craft in and of itself. There’s plenty of technical courses that can teach you the various skills needed. Producing is basically accounting and time management. They’re the ones who write the checks and make sure all the pieces are in place from start to finish. If producing is your ultimate goal you’re much better off coming from a business school and trying to work your way into entertainment as a production assistant.
