Question by Darrell: What’s this about a “new” Kurosawa film?
Imdb.com has listed “Gendai no No,” a documentary set for release this year, as being in post-production status with Akira Kurosawa as the director. The man has been dead since 1998. Have production companies been fighting for the rights, or what? Also, does anyone know about the subject matter of the film?

You’ll note that the producer on the film is Hisao Kurosawa, which is Akira’s son.
Essentially, “Gendai no No” is an unfinished documentary on Noh theater, which Hisao has revived for release upon Akira’s hundredth birthday anniversary (2010 — technically, it should have been released in March).
Akira had been working on the film in the ’80s while awaiting funding for “Ran” (1985). About 50 minutes of his original footage exists, and Hisao will complete the film with his own footage, following Akira’s outline.
