Question by devzin98: Why do filmmakers INSIST on drenching all current movies with CGI???
I can’t take it anymore. What ever happened to the ART behind making a great movie? Sure, there are still independent films that don’t have the budget for CGI (and benefit from that…), but the major studio releases all seem to rely on it. Now…there is definitely a place for CGI in Hollywood. Little bits here and there wouldn’t hurt. But when it becomes the ENTIRE MOVIE (see the new Superman film), it gets annoying, and makes the movie LESS believable in my mind.
Call me old fashioned, but I’d much rather see something REAL. To me, CGI looks fake, which seems to be contrary to popular opinion. But imagine “Raiders of the Lost Ark” with CGI snakes. It would lose all credibility. The upcoming Indy film has CGI fire ants. I can’t wait to be disappointed by that. Looks like George Lucas really was in control of this movie. Shame on you, Spielberg.
Am I alone here, or does anyone else loathe this technology when it replaces hard work and true artistry??

I agree, George Lucas ruined the new Star Wars movie by using way too much CGI.
CGI is ONLY supposed to be used for the things you can’t create with practical effects.
I just hope the new Indiana Jones movie isn’t drenched with CGI. The original movies were great and they didn’t need CGI to be great.
