Article by The Movie Reviewer
The title itself is a suspect because in all artistic sense who would create a supposedly romance-comedy movie and give it a title like that? Well, only the people behind this movie does. The concept for this movie is somewhat good though as it gives a new twist to the boy meets girl and lived happilly ever after plot. Not your usual love story as it combines the elements of a love story with the usual laughs mixed with some action to pepper it.
The film opens with Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl), after breaking up with her boyfriend, travels to Nice, France together with her parents (Tom Selleck and Catherine O’Hara). Girl meets boy Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher) accidentally in an elevator where girl eventually loses her composure and goes on doing a couple of stupid acts. Spencer, a CIA undercover agent on a mission, does what spies/undercover agents supposedly do, charm an awestruck woman by inviting her to a dinner. So the story goes, Spencer eventually decided that he had found the love of his life and gave up his being a an undercover agent/killer for marital bliss or so he thought. Fast forward to 3 years living together in the suburbs in the US with a legitimate job the film showed that the couple are doing well emotionally and financially that is. The plot suddenly twisted after Spencer’s 30th birthday as he found himself under attack by one of his office colleagues and much to his surprise, the assailant confessed that Spencer has a bounty for his head, a whooping 20 million dollars. In a fit of mixed paranoia, Spencer found himself torn between trying to figure out who the would be next assassin, which is just everyone else in the neighborhood, and dealing with Jen’s incessant nagging sort of brewing domestic trouble. Jen somehow getting over her prejudices against her husband goes out to help him track his killers. In the end, they found out that it was Jen’s father who put the contract on Spencer as he was the latter’s target way back in Nice. All things came to a stop when Jen told her father that he was going to be a grandfather. And they live happily ever after.
I cannot seem to find any merits to this movie. A half-baked spy thriller-action-comedy-romance put together is a recipe for disaster. Put in the lack of chemistry between Kutcher and Heigl and you are in for the surprise of your life. I would admit that the people behind this movie had good intentions. But it seems that the joke in the movie had been directed towards the viewers. The movie is not funny to be categorized as a comedy, not romantic for a supposedly love story which is already bad enough, put in the action/spy thriller part and you are in for the most yawning episode in movie watching. Well, there had been good moments though that can make you laugh one or two as far as I can remember especially when it is the turn of Catherine O’Hara and Tom Selleck. Aside from that, it will be hard to find good merits from the movie. Overall, the plot is a story of a movie gone bad. Maybe that was why they gave it its title, Killers.

I was wondering what it would take to get a movie filmed. I know that there are contracts involved. How does that whole scene work?

Creating a movie is a very involved process that takes the efforts of hundreds of skilled technicians, artists, and various executives. Some of those people involved may be on staff with a studio, a vendor company, or with various agencies. In those cases, those staff people will likely be under contract with their employers.
Most everyone else who works on a movie are freelancers. Essentially this means that they are hired for that single project, for the whole thing or just for as long as they are needed. After the freelancer’s particular task is finished, that individual moves on to find another project to work on. Freelancers do not sign contracts as a staff person might. Instead, the “deal memo” is the standard agreement that is signed.

Melissa Manchester began as a back-up singer for Bette Midler, prior to receiving a recording contract, and headlining at Carnegie Hall, at Radio City Music Hall and performing for sold-out audiences across the country. Today she still sells out venues across the country and her music has served to establish her as a compelling singer/songwriter. Her songs have been recorded by Barbra Streisand, Roberta Flack, Johnny Mathis, Kathy Mattea, Peabo Bryson, Barbara Cook and Mel Torme, among many others. Her international hits “Through The Eyes Of Love” and “Don’t Cry Out Loud” were written for her by her friend and frequent collaborator Carole Bayer Sager, with the late Marvin Hamlisch and the late Peter Allen. Melissa received the Grammy Award in 1982 for Best Female Vocalist and in 1980 she became the first artist in the history of the Academy Awards to have two nominated movie themes in a given year — “Through The Eyes Of Love” and “The Promise” — and went on the make Oscar history by performing both songs during the telecast. Melissa starred in Andrew Lloyd Webers Song And Dance and Music Of The Night, and as a recurring lead in the hit television series Blossom. She also worked again with Bette Midler, co-starring in the film For The Boys, as well as composing music for The Great Mouse Detective and she co-wrote the score for Lady And The Tramp II for Disney. Melissa was also the recipient of the NARAS Governor’s Award. Please visit Melissa at http://www.melissamanchester.com.
Helen Reddy has had a life and a career richer and more varied than anything she could ever have imagined as a little girl in Melbourne. She has dined with the Prince of Wales, danced in the White House with the President, and has a tulip named after her in Holland. Helen has had more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the U.S., including 14 singles in the top 10. She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three #1 hits in the same year. The first Australian to host her own one-hour weekly primetime variety show on an American network, along with several specials that were seen in over forty countries, she has starred in Londons West End and on Broadway. As a solo concert artist, she has played at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Royal Albert Hall and the Palladium in London. Her starring role in Disneys Petes Dragon continues to delight younger generations, while the lyrics she penned for what has become feminist anthem I Am Woman are now included in Modern American History high school textbooks. Her memoir, The Woman I Am (Tarcher/Penguin), has become a best-seller. Helen retired from live performance in 2002 and practiced as a clinical hypnotherapist and motivational speaker in her native Australia for ten years. But after singing a duet with her sister at her sisters 80th birthday party, Helen decided to come out of retirement in July, 2012 and return to the stage, much to the thrill of the California Womens Conference organizers.
