Question by Jackie: What’s the latest and greatest HD camcorder for indie feature filmmaking?
I’m working on a script for an indie low budget horror movie. I hope to finish up pretty soon and need to start looking at investing in a HD camcorder for shooting. I’m gonna have a couple of fight scenes and at least one car chase, so I need something that will catch all the fast action during those shots. I plan on using the “day for night” technique so low light features probably isn’t gonna be an issue with me. My budget is around the $ 5k to $ 7k range. If anybody with knowledge or expertise in this area could offer some quality advice, i’d really appreciate it. Thanks.
I should have included this with my first post, but i’m covered with additional equipment such as Final Cut Pro for editing on my Mac. In addition, I have a friend who is going to handle all the lighting. I have a boom mic, dolly, and i’ll be doing the storyboarding myself. So right now, i’m just wanting the latest camcorder that will provide a quality cinema/film look kind of camera. And don’t get me wrong, I know that video is not film , but I don’t have the budget for what the big timers use. *lol*

take a video production class at your local community college. they will let you use the schools camera for school projects. you can use your script to shoot for class. you’ll then know what you need besides just a camera. there is alot of equipment you’ll need for a feature.
