Question by noтн!ngнeяe: How do I become an independent filmmaker?
Best answer:
Answer by Elastic Lab
Start by creating and sharing as much film as possible. Upload it to YouTube, share it on independent film social networks, and submit it to festivals. Get involved with your local film organization(s) where you can screen your work and get feedback from other filmmakers. Start with shorts or a documentary on something you know/have access to, and then move on to a full-length feature once you have the exposure/funding available.
Most independent filmmakers offset the costs of their creative work by accepting commercial work. You could film local events, create corporate training videos, list your talents on sites like MediaMobz or Elance, and/or join a filmmakers’ network like Elastic Lab that connects you with paying local projects.
