Question by Just BN Me: What are the rules for including details of a documentary in a book?
I am working on a manuscript and I don’t want to break any copyright laws by including a story that was actually a documentary that was also featured on Oprah. I give everybody credit and even include references so I am not claiming it as my information. I just think it is a great segway into the topic of my book to tell the story. Does anyone know the rules/laws around doing this? Do I need to get permission from the producer of the documentary?

Even giving full credit to the source may not be enough – i would advise writing to the producer seeking permission to use the source = also telling him the way it is being used, perhaps by including a copy of the relevant page(s)
