Question by Jon: How much does a Bachelor’s degree matter for Film Production?
I’m going to school for Film and Video Production, and I’ve heard both that a Bachelor’s Degree is what people are now looking for, and also that it doesn’t really matter as long as you know what you’re doing. If anyone has any insight that would be appreciated.

My husband is an editor for programs that run on TLC, Animal Planet, etc. (actually, he’s leaving the profession because he doesn’t like it, but I digress). The value of the degree seems to really be the networking that it offers and the internships. It may be hard to compete with people that have had great internships throughout their college experience. Additionally, do your own side projects. You will learn a TON and can use them to show potential employers what you’re capable of. It’s a competitive industry so get all the experience you can WHILE obtaining a formal education.
