Question by Taylor V: For filmmakers, producers, actors, and any one else with an intrest or job in movies?
I recently finished writing a 53 page screenplay. It’s a zombie movie designed to be low budget. no scenes with complicated explotsions, or use of main roads(permits could hinder shooting). It is supposed to run from 70 to 90 minutes. I have 3 actors willing to act for free or cheap but it’s a cast of 10. Im only 15 so can’t get a high paying job and I only have $ 100 or so dollars since I recently purchased the Xbox 360.
From a profesionals poin of view(or not) how much do you think 6 blank firing guns, 8 to 10 weeks of shooting, 7 or 8 ametur actors, using a couple of houses for scenes, around 350 extras, 3 HD digital camcorders, shotgun mics, food, and the editing process cost. Be honest, im sitting.

Whatever you come up with, add 20% at least. You could pull it off with about 7-10,000 bucks. 350 extras….make-up, lunch, transportation…liscenses…etc.
Dollies, extra-lights, reflectors, butterflies, mics, power source, batteries….
Where are you editing this? On your personal PC? What program are you using?
Oh, then you got post-production cost…
My first short, (8 minutes) drained me of 750 dollars, and that was 1 actor, my brother. My second short (14 minutes) cost 1,600.
There’s a lot of variables to consider, and I’m not sure, based on what limited amount you supplied, what else to add in.
