Aquatic tale led to career in films
Nearly 50 years ago, Jack Cowden, now 82, and his brother-in-law, Ricou Browning, were dropped off by their wives on a Friday for a weekend escape at a cabin on a lake in Florida. When their wives came back to pick them up on Sunday, they had written what would become the story for “Flipper,” a now-famous film about a helpful dolphin that premiered in 1963.
