Save H20- 2010 FILM YOUR ISSUE FINALIST Richie Vernillo, 16 Smithtown, New York Activism suggestions to address global clean water crisis Young wunder-kind Richie Vernillo, a junior in high school, began making films when he was 7 years old, and at 16 owns his own green screens and lights, and is an expert at motion graphics and digital design. He is in the Media Arts Honor Society. His film advocates activism in the Clean Water Movement – a consciousness that began in his Human Geography class. “Knowing some states could run out of fresh water within 5 years is frightening”, says Richie. “I did the film with motion graphics so it would be visually appealing like a commercial and grab the viewers attention. I spent about one month researching and two months making the film entirely from scratch.” www.youtube.com
