Question by Mach Four: (Attention Experienced Filmmakers) Which Independent Film Camera Will be Best for Me?
Okay so I need a camera that will last me a few years. I’m turning sixteen in a few months and I want something that’ll last me until at least college. I make movies ranging from home movie kind of things to more serious productions. I have a basic Sony Handycam right now which I’m not thrilled with for anything more than just filming vacations and stuff. I was looking at the canon XH A1 (http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/canon-xh-a1/4505-6500_7-31986886.html?tag=txt)
and it seems okay but I was curious if there were any indy filmmakers out there who had advice for a fairly serious teenage filmmaker. Sound quality is important as is crisp and clear video (zebra is also a fairly important feature for me as are XLR’s). I’ll probably be using boom’s for my more intense films. I really need something that will be reliable for a few years and meet my general filmmaking needs.
I use a Mac by the way, I know theres a Canon camera out there that’s pretty good but only really works with Windows for some reason. Final Cut will be what I use
