Question by R: Best digital camera for a 16-year old photographer?
I’m 16 and a photographer on my school newspaper, and I am looking for a new digital camera. I have about $ 600 saved up for this camera.
I have been using an old contax film camera. I process and print all my film, but it’s just getting to be too much of a hassle to shoot, process, print and still make deadline.
I need a versatile camera with adjustable shutter speed and aperture. I mostly shoot action pictures.
Can anyone recommend a cheap, good quality digital camera? I’m thinking a Nikon D40 or something similar would do the trick, so could anyone give me a review on this?
Thanks 🙂
Oh yea, i forgot to mention that I really want to go with Nikon, since my mom has one and I could use her lenses.

If you would be interested in a pocket camera, this would be a good one, as it has different adjustable modes:

The D40 is a good camera to start with, and build up a collection on lenses. Eventually you can move up to a larger and sturdier model, and you will already have lenses for it.
