Question by morethanagame2000: Can you recommend a digital camera with no shutter lag?
Hi, I’m looking for a digital camera with
– little to no shutter lag
– little to no waiting time between shots
– not bulky, like an SLR
– good image quality under low light
– has a flash
– reasonable wide angle
– and perhaps, some telephoto as well
Does this seem like a wishlist too good to be true?
Can you recommend any cameras that might fit the bill?
When I was at High School, I became used to taking photos on a (film) SLR, so I am used to having no shutter lag – I want the camera to take the photo when I press the button (is that too much to ask) 😉
thanks very much for your help
(I am based in Australia, but most of the camera models in other countries are available here.)

Your quest is doomed. Only DSLR’s have shutter lags measured in milliseconds, not seconds. There are some of the newer P&S cameras that have less shutter lag than those before, but you will have to search each camera makers website to see which those are. No one has compiled that data in any tabular form. There is a link that can help you reduce apparent shutter lag. Shutter lag increases when you are using the on-board flash. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/shutter-lag.htm
