sftimecap CH has given its “Coolest Film School in USA, 2009” Award to the Cinema Dept.@ City College of San Francisco. At the Press Conference held Aug. 7, 2009 on the steps of SF City Hall a heckler w. a phoney NY Times Press Pass kept shouting: “NYU, Number ONE, NYU, Number One”. The sftimecap rep on site shoots back: “Best Film School? NYU? Gimme a fucking break! They don’t even COUNT! They’re not even on the fucking WEST COAST!” Look at it like the cost/benefit POV: Final Cut Pro Training: At CCSF you get two 3 hour classes per week in hitech FCP Lab for 17 weeks, total of 34 classes/labs for per unit, total of , or approx .85 per 3 hr class. At NYU, this ‘icon’ of privatization, you get one 3 hour FCP class for a total of, maybe?, 15/16 weeks. The total cost will be approx. 00 tuition for this class, divide by 15 classes, equals an NYU fee of approx. 8 fee per scheduled class (whether the kid shows up or not!) All you budding rocket scientists, get out your sliderulers and prove to us just how cool this east coast relic NYU weally wealthy is! Filmmakers! Presta atencion, por favor!!! Factor in the award winning filmmaking talent that comprises CCSF Cinema’s faculty palette, then get your California residency paperwork in order, then head out to the ‘Coolest Film School in USA, 2009’!
