Question by bigroc567: do i have a chance at BU?
sup 😀
ok so my avg is idk we’ve been using the IB grading system since freshmen year so its all weird. but this is what i got
avg 5 for freshmen
5/5- sphmore
junior winter =
ibh chem 6 weighted 7-
ibh anthropology 5 weighted 6-
ibh japanese 5+ weighted 6
ibs bio 5- weighted 5
ibs A1 english 4- weighted 4
ibs math (not crappy mathstudies) 6+ weighted 7-
i got mad ecs
like 300 + hours community service
i started a synthsizer / music club
i dj all school dances since freshmen year and i work around djing
start of senior year a friend and i are starting the chemistry club
i ran track for junior and plan onf running for senior
i do alot of media work including editing jobs and filming/ editing school events
building computers is a fun hobby for me (built the comp i’m using)
i’m going to be a TA for this elective class for the school’s middle school ( music related)
I play piano, guitar and electric bass. since sophmore year
and i’m doing an internship at oronamin C in japan for health drinks and chemistry in tokushima. and a robotics engineering internship in haguro/ yamagata highschool.
o apparently being that i attended unis un conference at the UN from sophomore to senior is really good.
I got a terrible 1730 on the sats 🙁 but i plan on taking them again. working with a barrons perfect 2400 and following their instructions exactly as they say.
i plan on taking chem sat II but idk the scores but my first practice test was a 700 so i still have 4 months to prepare so that i can perfect it. which according to my friend isn’t that hard to do. ( I <3 u curve)
and idk about math SAT II lvl 2 but i'm probs getting only 700 on that 🙁
I also correct my dads work if that counts for anything. he's a bilingual educator nothing big.
anyways do i have a shot at BU, Jhopkinns, Carnegie mellon, cooper union, Nyu , Cornell, columbia, MIT, and ithaca U? if not at any what can i possibly do to make it happen?
I'm looking to apply for chemical engineering for Jhops, mellon, cooperunion, cornell, mit, columbia. for normal chemistry (going for organic chemistry) every school. but especially nyu and BU.
btdubbs, I'm a NYC student that is latino and goes to private school ( noncatholic) and i speak engilsh and spanish fluently, and speak french proffciently and japanese just bad but i know 500+ kanji so i can decipher basic sentences at least. (according to the book sets in class)
edit i'm also in Literary magazine and have 5 published works in it. and i do year book in the winter. and am part of the school media club (duh)

You most def have a good chance getting into BU. I think your goal should be higher. MIT might be a bit too high, but if you try hard, who knows.^__^. I’m targeting for Harvard, but my back up school is BU. I don’t care which one I get into (well, Harvard is better OF COURSE .. duh!) as long as its Boston.
YOu are doing very well with getting involved in the school, and the part where you said you built your own computer was just cool. But judging from the things you do, I suggest you take up some more LEADERSHIP type of positions. So you said your part of the media club right? Why not apply to be an exec member? or creat your own club and Chair it. Whatever you do, just follow your interest and passion. But keep in mind that most of the prestegious schools out there are looking for LEADERSHIP LEADERSHIP LEADERHIP!! so You better who them your potential and strength in that.
Also, your SAT score is a bit low (your first try). Yeah, try again, I hope you will score higher =)
well, good luck!
