Question by emily_wags: do i really have to move to hollywood to in the film editing business?
i want to be a film editor, but will i be stuck in california my whole career if i want to edit movies?

no, not necessarily. i want to be a film director, and i’m choosing to go to film school in New York. i don’t really know where my career will take me after that, perhaps Hollywood, but i really hope it doesn’t. everything is so mainstream there. films are made anywhere obviously, and if you want to be a film editor for big budget films then it is very likely that california will be where you end up, but sticking to indie films, you can find that, any place needs you really. i’m sticking to indie, i don’t want to lose my creativity due to the amount of money i’ll be making. that would contradict myself. you just have to decide what type of movies you’ll be editing and place yourself where that scene is located.
