Yes. There’s still plenty to do for the achievement of equality for women, even in the 21st century. And cinema as always been a great way to pass the message, especially now that as considered an art in its absolute and freedom, and you don’t have restrictions, like some years ago.
Women are still less paid then men, having the same tasks exactly and there’s still a lot of discrimination in certain professional areas.
Besides, in africa, even in the 21st century, girls are still victims of clitoris removing at childhood.
And there’s another big worry for the condition of women: the barbie notion: the woman must be all pretty and perfect, being a good housekeeper, a sexy wife, a good looking and elegant person, a great mother and educator, and even a good professional.
Myself, as a film-making student, think that, when holding the power that is the cinema, should definitely aboard some social / political subjects, in a more subjective or objective way, in my films.
