Question by DykeMom: Experimental filmmaker from the 60s?
Within the past year I watch a documentary about a filmmaker from the 1960s. He was also a performance artist and heavily narrated his own films. He was gay, and I believe he died of AIDS. His films are very lush, and decadent, very sexual, and he got the materials for his costumes and sets, maybe even his film stock out of the trash. I cannot for the life of me remember his name or the name of the documentary. Any ideas?
Eh..i figured it out, it was Jack Smith, and the documentary is called “Jack Smith and the Destruction of Atlantis”

I thought you were talking about Derek Jarman at first, but I think most of his work was 1970’s onwards…
