If you are in school right now and can’t answer that, then you are wasting your money.
If you are planning on going to school for that major then ask that department if the seniors are required to take up an internship their last year?
If they say no, then good luck. Because the film industry is all about connections, if you graduate and can’t find work, welcome to the real world.
Most graduates of this major have a hard time finding work if they didn’t graudate from USC, UCLA, or top notch universities. But like all schools, you use the training that you received to built youur portfolio in order to find work.
Being a director involves classes in english composition and scriptwriting, filmmaking, and leadership.
Being a director and finding a job as a director is tough, I mean TOUGH!
First of all you have to have experience as a director and showcase your work to future employees, Short film? documentary?
if you haven’t directed ever in your life, then go grab a camera and do so right now, otherwise when you are in college you’ll be lost in the their language of filmmaking.
most important, good directors are hard to come by,
most suck, few are good.
beter hope you’re good.
