Question by erica3313: HELP! I NEED TO EDIT MY FILM FOR CLASS AND I KEEP GETTING THIS ERROR MESSAGE ABOUT A **CODEC**?
WHAT CODEC DO I NEED, AND HOW DO I MAKE MY FILES ACCESSABLE FOR WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
***The file E:VIDEO_TSVTS_01_0.IFO cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.***

IFO files are DVD files; Windows Media Player and Movie Maker need specific drivers (which are called “codecs”) to be able to play these, as Windows has no “out-of-the-box” DVD support.
If you download a program like PowerDVD (or something similar, not many of them are freeware), the coded will be installed.
