I am fairly sure some of them do go bankrupt. And those who don’t have other businesses. Most of the movie producers start investing in the movie industry after they have made a lot of money by other businesses. Some of them may even be rich by inheritance. The point is, if they are producing flop movies, and are not bankrupt, they have other source of income. They have enough money to invest on such a risky business. Even if they lose a lot of money in the film industry, they have other ways to cover the loss.
I don’t know about India, but in Bangladesh, producing movies is also a way of investing “black money”. Film industry’s involvement with underground has been highly publicized both in India and Bangladesh.
