Question by shuhua d: How does production company upconverts old and standard-def movies to HD Bluray?
I’ve been watching some new BD release of old flicks, and Bluray versions definitely look a lot sharper and color seem to pop out more.
I read somewhere that Criterion have been doing cleanups and touch-ups on there old collection frame by frame in order to create a Bluray version of the same film, it sounds very tedious and just all around hard to imagine.
Can someone explain to me how does upconverting old films to HD actually work?
Thanks!

not totaly sure about this but some dvd players have a processor that can up convert Standard def dvds to 1080p (in Real Time) and i cant tell the difference from a blu-ray or HD-DVD title if this possessor can do this in real time im sure the film company’s could probably come up with some sort of up converter that may take a week or 2 and do a much better job?
