Question by cjmcclure18: How to get started in the film industry, preferrably production and editing?
I live in Southern California and I graduated high school last year. I really want to work in film production and editing. What are some of the things I need to do and what are some good schools in So Cal. I don’t really have a lot of money to afford a really expensive film school but I will consider all my options.

Most likely if you get a job in film the first job you will get is as a PA, or production assistant. You can read what a PA does here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Production_assistant
Next, read this article, it talks about getting a job in television, but it’s the same process for getting started in film:

Also, I highly recommend this book:

It will give you a very realistic idea about what it takes to make it and after reading the book you will have a clear understanding of whether or not it’s the right career for you.
