Question by Michael G: I have a question about HD Digital Cameras?
I am looking to make films for class and we are going to deal with white washing and stuff like that. I want an all around HD camcorder, that has editing options, LCD screen. Are they black and white capable? Its been a while since I have used one. I don’t want to spend more than 500 dollars. Can I still get a decent camera?

“Decent” means different things to different people.
Personally, I would not worry about the camera’s effects – do all that with the video editor in the computer.
I do not know what an “all around HD camcorder” is. I have never heard the term, “whitewashing” in terms of video.
All consumer camcorders have an LCD screen.
$ 500 and HD? Don’t think so. Least expensive worth considering is the Canon HV40. Mic Jack, manual audio control, miniDV tape. AVCHD compresses too much. Perhaps it would be worth asking the instructor for their recommendation.
