Question by CreativeSuz: I’m looking to move to LA to work in the film and tv business – when’s the best time to go for production jobs
I spent the summer interning in New York, graduated with a degree in film production, and now am looking to try the West coast. If anyone knows the best time to be in the city for production jobs it would be very helpful!
I’ve heard that productions start back up (and thus hire) in mid-January, but with the strike this year things are very different.
Thanks!

Because of the recent Writer’s strike, most, if not all production company work is at a standstill. And anyway, unless you have an in [someone in the trades], there are very limited apprentice offerings at television stations. It can be very frustrating at this time, when going from production lot to production lot looking for work. My best advice is to stay where you are and continue your review of Hollywood publications, i.e., Variety, Hollywood Reporter for ads offering your type of employment.
Good luck!
