Question by Michaela Marshall: Is doing short films a good way to start acting career?
I have just recently landed a part in a short film, im playing the lead, I have trained in acting for some time now, and im just wondering whether this would be a good career move. I suppose it would be like you can show them footage of your acting skills i dunno- it sounds silly me asking this necause i have trained in this for years but you know, just need some advice.
Thanks,

Any experience is good experience. The only exception to this is if you have already done much bigger projects, and the short film would look like a significant step down for you. Then you might want to avoid it. But otherwise, it sounds like a great opportunity. Acting is like any other job… you have to prove yourself at the lower levels before getting “promoted” to the good stuff. Also known as paying your dues. So start proving your abilities in small roles to build your resume while you await a bigger opportunity. You’ll build your skills and confidence along the way too.
