Question by T-Mac: Is it a good idea to spend a lot of money on a short film?
Just about every short film I’ve ever seen made for under 10K looks like a piece of crap. My story while only 20 pages long is looking like it’s gonna cost close to 25-30K but is this a waste of money?
I know I could go and spend a fraction of that and even make a low budget feature which would clearly capture more attention but right now I’ve got this whole short figured out and I want to make it soon.
Anyone think this is a mistake?

it’s not so much a mistake as to what your ultimate goal will be.
if you are thinking long term with one particular short film, you might want to spend more time making it. but you say that you want to make a short film fairly soon, you might want to stick with a low budget feature just to see how that one turns out.
good luck.
