This is Northwest Film Institutes’ entry into the “I Am Free Enterprise” video contest sponsored by the US Chamber of Commerce and Youtube. Please view this video as many times as possible to help NFI finish in the top 25 and earn a chance at winning seed funds that will see the school get launched. It features NFI founder and 42 year Hollywood film producer, Ted Parvin. NFI is a registered non-profit, 501(c)(3) educational corporation, currently seeking seed funding. NFI would create over 20 quality year-round jobs in a region of the US hit particularly hard by the recent economic downturn – North Idaho. In addition, NFI would provide new cultural and educational opportunities to hundreds of students, and be a unique tool for the work-force retraining of displaced loggers, mill workers and miners. The NFI concept is to have a core faculty made up of credited film industry professionals, both working and retired, and offer students hands-on experience with the same equipment they will find on a Hollywood film set. In addition, graduates will have the option of being placed in internships with reputable commercial production companies where they can make connections that lead to future employment. The curriculum is designed to follow the same structure a feature film moves through from creation, preproduction, principal photography, post and distribution.
