Question by Mr. B: Filmmakers please help:What kind of camera should I buy for my first indie film to get that professional look?
Hi, so I’m planning on making a movie and I need help on finding the right camera. I want the movie to look like a “real” movie, and not like it was shot on one of those normal digital cameras you buy at bestbuy and film your birthday party with! Also, I don’t want it to look like one of those cheap TV soap operas (such as the bold and the beautiful!). I just want it to have that professional look. But I’m not “that” concerned with how sharp the image is, etc. As long as it has that pro look, I’m good. So, how can I do this? Do I need a special type of lens? Also, keep in mind that I don’t have all the money in the world! So, I’m thinking something between 1500$ and 3000$ . Is it even possible? Thanks.

It’s not an indie movie if it has a ‘professional’ look….
Go watch Clerks for what every indie movie should look like, haha.
