Question by Madison D: Has anyone ever taken the filmmaking option at the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Session?
If you have, how did you like it? Was it worth the money? What were its pros/cons? Any details would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you’re thinking about going into filmmaking, summer session is a good way to test it out before really comitting to it. It is a 5 week program and costs about 550 a week if you are in state. That can be a lot of money, and sort of depends on your finances.
It is a good program in that you get to explore all the different aspects of filmmaking as well as some acting in top quality facilities.
The college can be a bit of a daunting place, and tons of people drop out because it isn’t right for them. Since it is a conservatory, you can’t really transfer the credits to other schools i.e. lots of wasted money. Going to the summer session can help you figure out if it is the right option for you as far as college goes.
Good Luck
