Question by Tony: How long would you recommend doing the College scene?
Right now I’m on Year 6 at a junior college, a 2-year college, to get my General Ed credits, before going to film school. I feel like just giving up, but won’t. How long should I go until I just give up? 12 years, including University work? I have no credits towards my degree.
I have a Skills Certificate in Digital Video.
I’m working towards an IGETC degree (Associate’s degree in General Ed)
I want to transfer to a film school for a Bachelor’s degree in Film.
I’ve attempted 103.5 credits, but only earned 48.5 (46.9%). My cumulative GPA is 2.8.
I’ve been put on Progress Dismissal (I think that’s what it’s called), and got a couselor to take it off for me. In a semester the highest I’ve completed is 7 units.
I know I f’ed up 🙁

An associates degree normally takes 2 years going full time.
A Bachelors degree normally takes an additional 2 years going full time…
Totaling 4 years.
Sounds like its time to step up the pace a little and take more classes per semester or take intersession classes, Internet classes, or other to pick up the pace. 5 classes a semester minimum, No excuses. No dropping! 🙂
How can you have no credits toward your degree if you have been going 6 years? What have you been taking all this time? Underwater nuclear basket weaving?
Seriously, go to the film school you want to attend and take a copy of your transcript with you, along with a “prospective” class schedule for your next semester. Make sure they will transfer in all those classes you have been taking for the past 6 years… if they don’t… transfer directly to the film school and stop wasting your time and money.
Good Luck!
