Question by Silent Days: I want to be a filmmaker, but don’t know what subjects to take?
Ever since I was eight years old, I’ve wanted to be a filmmaker. I’m now doing my A-Levels, but am unsure of what subjects to take between literature and media studies. I was sondering whether if I take literature along with economics, history and french, i would be able to study film at a university such as NYU, USC or Stanford. Is it possible? What can I also do to broaden my portfolio for the film school application?

Media studies sounds more useful than literature for a career in filmmaking. It’s a tough industry to break into, I’m not gonna lie to you, but best of luck anyway 😀
You should probably make at least two short films; that’ll give you two screenplays, two storyboards, two finished films, maybe two trailers to put in your portfolio. Explore different genres and styles; read up on film history and theory.
