Question by james u: is using a dslr like the gh1 or mark 5d a viable option to making an indie film.?
i guess i want to know if there any people out there who have seen through some of the drawbacks and see these cameras as real or legitimate tools in the filmmaking process. Because I am very intrigued by the uunique power of someof these dslrs.I do understand the red scarlet is supposed to be out soon and is supposedly gonna revolutionize the indie world forever. But Im not technology worshipper or even obsessed with a perfect image. I just want a good enough resolution with the ability to change lenses.Oh and id like it for under 2000. As far as sound goes im not against syncing audio in post. so its not my top concern .

I am saving (and saving, and saving) up for one myself. I plan to use it to supplement by pro video camera footage. Being that I have a lot of DSLR lenses for my still cameras, I want to be able to use those with a DSLR that records video. I think many users of such a camera want the ability to use different lens and with that, you can get more depth of field, telephoto, etc.
Check out the link below and type in a search for the Panasonic DMC-GH1 and the Canon EOS 5D Mark II. You’ll see lots of video samples and some full projects.
