Question by Mandy!: Professional photo + film editing programmes?
I am interested in pursuing photography as a career, therefore I need decent photo editing software – add effects, crop, change colour, saturation etc. I would also like a good film editing software. For this I would like to be able to make the video black and white, edit the length, change the speed, put different videos together… If anyone can recommend good software to me it would be greatly appreciated. If they could try mention prices and where I could buy it that would be helpful too! I’d prefer if it wasn’t too expensive, but if it has exactly what I want i am prepared to pair a fair amount…
I’m interested in both, im still young, so theres no harm in that…. Also I can do these things on the camera already, but sometimes you want to edit them afterwards because u change your mind. I also sometimes do odd manipulations that aren’t possible on the camera to make my art work (for exams) more interesting and abstract.

Forget about photo manipulation until you learn how to get perfect exposures every time you press the shutter release.
What you are calling “effects” cropping saturation and colour balance or enhancements can all be done in the camera … cropping is called filling the frame … just move in closer. Colour saturation is the result of making perfect exposures (no over exposing of the image) and the colour of the over all image is done when designing the shot or buy using colour gels on the lighting.
It is far easier to spend a few minutes getting the shot right in the computer, than to spend around five hours per image “fixing them.
Video is as different from still as driving a car is from flying your own plane and the difference in cost and training is about comparable.
Shooting and editing video is so different, that people make careers out of being one or the other.
