Question by WastedMonkey: What are some of the best schools for Visual Effects and film production?
I am looking to enroll in a school for Visual Effects. I’ve heard a few school names thrown out there. Full Sail University and The Art Institutes are some of them.
Does anyone know some of the top schools for this?

Good luck to you in your college search! I work at Tribeca Flashpoint Media Arts Academy in Chicago, and I think you should check us out. Not only does our program have all of the most sophisticated technology used in Visual Effects today, but the chairman of our department, Perry Harovas, literally co-wrote the book on Maya (one of the most widely used programs in Animation and Visual Effects). This text, called Mastering Maya, is used in many VFX and Animation programs nationwide — probably even the programs at Full Sail and The Art Institutes. But who better to learn from than the guy who wrote the text book?
Plus, our curriculum is really focused on collaboration between departments. This means that you won’t just learn how to create VFX in a vacuum; you’ll actually learn to work closely with the film department to create professional-quality films. It’s truly a one of a kind school, and I do hope you’ll check us out.
You can learn more about Tribeca Flashpoint at http://www.flashpointacademy.com. And if you have any questions at all, I’d love to help you answer them! My name is Kristin, and my email address is kristin.hertko@flashpointacademy.com
