Question by Jane M: what extra skills do you have to have to become a film producer?
Best answer:
Answer by L
The people who typically become film producers are:
* agents — implying that you should have superb sales skills
* screenwriters — You don’t necessarily have to be able to crank out Tarantinoesque dialogue, but you should understand structure and plot of a movie
* rich people — you don’t need any skills at all if you can finance an entire movie out of your own pocket.
Directors, actors, cameramen, etc. occassionally produce pet projects to enhance their careers, or to help a friend out, but usually they just focus on what they are good at. A common perception of film producers is that they drive the most expensive cars and f**k the most expensive hookers because they AREN’T considered the talent and so they need to validate themselves by other means.
