Beginning, Middle, and End IS a three act plot structure.
And yes, you ALWAYS use a three act plot structure with any sort of story.
First, introduce your character in his or her situation
Give this character a main desire
Then uncover a problem
That’s Act I
This character needs to fail at fixing the problem several times
Act II
The character battles against this problem a final time, and wins or loses
Act III
Pretty simple. It’s coming up with an idea that’s the tricky part.
