Question by Lauren: Which college is the best choice for me? (film production major)?
Portland State University- They have a film major, but you can choose what area you want to focus on (production, studies, writing). They have only had the major since this year, but you can also take classes at the Northwest film center.
Or
Art Institute of Portland- They have a film production program just focused on production. They do not have dorm rooms though (which might be an issue). They’ve had the major for awhile and I’ve read they are a pretty good school.
Which would you choose?
I’m choosing to stay in-state for cost reasons.

If both schools have what you are interested in; I’d pick the one that had the safest place to live. Your safety is very important. Check out all of the concerns that go with that. Check out the crime rate, how far you’d have to go back and forth to classes. You may need to be out after dark.
It would be good if you could find a classmate who lives near you and is trustworthy; to go to and from classes. People are safer in two’s.
There are other things to consider too.
Make sure your apartment has a fire extinguisher; that works.
