Question by Ari: Questions about studying Film in college?
Okay. In college what is there to study about film?
I’m asking because I’m very interested in film making.
What classes would you take, and which career would they be preparing you for? (within the film making industry, i mean).
I’m looking for a little guidance from someone with experience in this area. Does anyone have any advice on what i should do, as a junior in high school, to make myself appealing to colleges with good film programs?

The best advice anyone can give you about film is STAY OUT OF FILM SCHOOL. Take a course in film appreciation if you wish, but a degree program in film is almost guaranteed to leave you unemployable, The best you could do after graduation is make videos dressed as Ronald McDonald with a red rubber nose, and sell them for $ 10 each to parents of McDonald’s birthday parties. Even that gets tiresome after a while and you have to move on to a job at Taco Bell.
