The film, American Beauty from 1999 although seemingly set in a Chicago, Illinois suburb is another example of “film magic” used by filmmakers throughout the world. The aerial shots taken all over this film were actual shots of Sacramento, California not Chicago. Initially, the producers wanted to film these shots of San Jose, California but the police department did not allow the crew’s helicopter to fly below three hundred feet due to it being in a neighborhood and concerns of noise disturbance. Although the crew was looking for a metropolitan area that would allow as low as 100 ft. height, they later on had to abide by the laws of the land and opted to use Sacramento as their Chicago suburb. If this is something that you like to do, including seeing your name in the credits of a film, then it would make sense for you to train for a job in this exciting business.
Sacramento film schools, obviously, are perfect for learning about movie making. The city of Sacramento is a wonderful alternative to Hollywood – being only a short drive away from the capital of the movie making world. The capital of California, Sacramento is the perfectly situated place for someone who is serious about their training yet just a stone’s throw from the area where a lot of the work can be found.
Sacramento film schools offer several traditional as well as alternative types of film schools. Teaching lessons in producing, directing, screenwriting, editing, cinematography and so many other related courses, there’s a film school for each type of training. Whether you choose a school that offers a Bachelor’s degree in filmmaking or a non-traditional school that offers hands-on training from the first day, is totally up to the student and what type of learning they choose.
The Film Connection is one of the schools that provide an alternative kind of education for the creative moviemaker. Their famous mentor-apprentice program features a working professional to “buddy up” with the student and teach them everything they know. This kind of training is highly advantageous considering that this promotes introductions to industry professionals.
You must acknowledge the fact that this kind of business is largely about networks. So regardless on whether you enroll in a four-year degree or be involved in a mentor-apprentice program, you must take advantage of the relationships you create along the way because one of these could very well get you your first job.

Question by Mee: Rate my short film (2mins) for school?
For my film and tv class (in high school).
Bare in mind that we were only given crappy cameras (no professional ones lol) and I procrastinated A LOT on this film lol and eventually started my assignment and filmed 2 days before it was due (rushed the camera work) and edited 1 day before.
Also, I know there’s some issues with light (daytime/nightime). It was obviously supposed to be filmed at night time, however, I was in a rush and I couldn’t be picky. Oh and there’s also credits at the end except I deleted them in this one for the purpose of privacy.
What grade do you reckon I’d get?

There seems to be some confusion with the plot. Make sure you read the quote at the beginning read that and the title, then tie the two together. get it? thirteen = bad luck. I show the clock at 00:13 (see the significance of the number thirteen?) at the beginning and then at the end its 00:14. So it was all in her head.
