I’m an independent filmmaker that always thought search engine optimization (SEO) was a tool used by online hucksters to separate people from their money.
I changed my mind after seeing how effectively my good friend Tim Beachum SEO & Internet Marketing Consultant promoted the indie feature Consignment. He co-produced and edited the movie with me. I knew he was tech savvy, but had no idea how much he knew until he went into action.
After completing the movie he suggested we stream the opening 10 minutes online for free without any interruptions. Being an independent movie there was not any big money to launch a full blown marketing campaign, so reluctantly I agreed to go along with his idea. Jackpot! There was a massive response from viewers. People were watching the opening 10 minutes and getting hooked.
Our online DVD sales took off. At that point we were self-distributing selling single DVD’s of Consignment as we looked over distribution offers from other companies. Tim Beachum developed a sweet viral online marketing campaign for Consignment that was getting major results. I started to pay close attention to what he did to promote the movie. Two things jumped out at me.
Not only did Tim set it up so people could watch the opening 10 minutes of Consignment via stream, but he made it so people could find it. The Internet is massive and cluttered. He researched keywords and phrases to drive traffic to our streaming site. I was getting a better idea of how SEO can work for independent filmmakers.
Tim also set it up where we could submit the movie trailer to all the top viral video websites like YouTube, Vimeo, Metacafe, and Veoh in one pop. He automated the process saving a lot of time since we did not have to visit each website and manually upload. Even it only takes 5 minutes per website multiple that by a hundred sites, those minutes add up to hours.
I’m grateful that I learned how useful SEO marketing is for indie filmmakers. If you pay attention to keywords and phrases you will attract more viewers to your movie because they will know it does exist.
I’m now a filmmaker that believes in the power of SEO marketing. So much so that before I write a screenplay or think about producing a movie I think in terms of SEO marketing first. My next two movies are titled with keywords and phrases in mind. I do not have a studio budget to market my movies. I have to rely on grassroots SEO marketing to get the word out. SEO for filmmakers can get your movie seen. This is indie filmmaker Sid Kali typing FADE OUT.

PAPPASARTS.WORDPRESS.COM http Few filmmakers work is so instantly recognizable as that of Stanley Kubrick. Beautiful, precise composition. Elaborate tracking shots. Powerful acting. Deep, thought-provoking themes. Kubrick put his unique stamp and vision on every film he made. Despite his relatively small output, probably no other director made great films in so many different genres, from science fiction (2001: A Space Odyssey) to war films (Full Metal Jacket), historical drama (Barry Lyndon) to comedy (Dr. Strangelove), horror (The Shining) to psychosexual drama (Eyes Wide Shut). Kubrick`s influence on the art of filmmaking is matched by only a precious few fellow giants, and his body of work will certainly continue to thrill and intrigue audiences, critics and future filmmakers for years to come. The career and life of Stanley Kubrick is explored through pictures, clips from his films & comments from his colleagues. For Educational Use
Question by Eddie Mayes: What is the best camcorder choice for amateur filmmakers?
I enjoy making short films and currently use a kodak play-sport handheld camcorder. It is alright, but I could definitely improve my work with a higher quality camcorder. I could spend up to $ 500 dollars on a new camera. I’m not looking for anything professional grade, as I am aware that my budget is severely lacking. I want the camera to have a port for headphones and an external microphone. Any suggestion on what I should purchase?

The Vixia HF R200 is also one of the first entry-level devices in the VIXIA lineup to support 1920 x 1080 which translate to Full HD capabilities. This is because the it uses the newer Full HD CMOS Sensor that bumps the megapixel count to 3.28 so 1920 x 1080 images can be taken as well. It takes a few technologies that made their EOS DSLR cameras good to ensure that image quality is not sacrificed. In fact, it uses the same DIGIC DV III Image Processor that is found on the midrange VIXIA models so different tonal ranges are reproduced nicely including those tough blue and purple shades.
