Question by bettedaviseyes: Since I have stretchmarks, I can’t be a film actress?
Though I’ve always been interested in film/television production, I recently decided to actively pursue a theatre degree in hopes of working on a film set in the future. While I think everything behind the scenes is fascinating, a big part of me would also like to try being a film/tv actress. I’ve been taking acting courses at my university, and have no fear that acting skill will be a problem (not trying to sound cocky) but I feel like it’s all wasted effort since my body isn’t “perfect.” I have stretch marks on my hips and breasts, and it makes me feel as though I could never have a successful film career since most actresses have little to no stretch marks and excellent physiques.
I just want some opinions. Do you think it really matters that much? Or at the end of the day, does it still boil down to skill and well, luck (being in the right place at the right time)?

There are ointments that fade stretch marks. Most acting scenes do not require exposure to hips and breasts. If you ever became really famous and were required to have a semi-nude scene, then you can have a body double as many actresses have had.
