THE STRANGER is a short TV film, made in spring 1983 for the British Film Festival. It’s a special TV play directed by Simon Cook, starring ZAINE GRIFF. Special thing in this short film is that not only singer and artist Zaine Griff is starring as actor, but also he composed the music, that was arranged and recorded by the now world famous film score composer HANS ZIMMER. It was broadcasted in sping 1983 on Channel 4. Hans Zimmer is was in those days a musician, keyboard player, and programmer for synthesizer and computers. A pioneer in electronic music. He did that for Zaine Griff’s first albums ASHES AND DIAMONDS and FIGURES and later had his own HELDEN PROJECT ‘SPIES’, an album on which Hans Zimmer worked together with Warren Cann of Ultravox and Zaine Griff, singing on at least 5 songs. Unfortunately the album was never released yet. In fact the album sounded like a movie soundtrack… At the time of the making of this short TV film Hans Zimmer also made short sound scores for TV commercials, but it could well be that this short arrangement for this film is in fact his first one. Hans is now the world’s most famous composer for many wellknown films – In the past two decades he made soundtracks for about 110 films, among them many famous ones such as Rainman, The Lion King, Pirates of The Caribbean, Batman, The Da Vinci Code and…very recently the film INCEPTION. Hans won two Oscars for film soundtracks and several other prices as well and lives in Los Angeles, USA …
