Question by Ninjato: To take the path of a filmmaker should I do traditional college or academy of arts?
I want to become a filmmaker and decided to take the college route. I’m planning on attending a junior college in my area which has a transfer agreement with UCLA. A friend of mine with the same aspirations decided to attend the Arts Academy of California and is specializing in Digital Film Making and Video Production. I wanted to take the same path he did but my parents convinced me it was a trade school and I’d be better off going to UCLA. To all people who are currently employed in the film/television business what direction do you think is wisest for me to go? And are there any other smarter and more efficient ways of becoming a filmmaker? And please no lectures on the difficulty of the business.

Time for you to do a little foot work and ask around . If you live in the area,California, contact studios or production companies and ask. If you do not live in the area contact them with e mail or actually write a letter. What better answer than from the horse’s mouth?
