Question by Anonymous: What are some good songs themed around the news, newspapers or magazines?
For a Documentary Filmmaking class, we’re doing a documentary on a magazine-type thing produced in Italy – it’s kinda a cross between a magazine and a newspaper – it’s more in magazine format, but the content more closely resembles the Op/Eds and articles from a newspaper.
So far I’ve thought of two songs – “A Day In the Life” by the Beatles (“I saw the news today… the British army had just won the war”, etc. and “American Pie” by Don McLean (“With every paper I deliver, bad news on the doorstep”)
Any other ideas? Preferably songs that are either easily recognizable, or match the theme pretty closely.
